Does my Windsock need replacing

... they eventually do wear out!

One of the great things about Australia is the weather …

But it can be harsh! In Summer we have high levels of UV and extreme heat. Then in Winter, and particularly lately it would seem, extreme rain and wind. We recommend that your Windsock, its pole and its mounting attachment are checked regularly to assess whether there has been any damage and to ensure that they are fully operational.

All of these elements, but also pollution, fires and smoke impact on the life of your Windsock.

Our Commitment

At Windsocks Australia our aim is to produce the best Windsocks for Australian conditions: fit for purpose, waterproof, UV fade resistant, and high strength. All of these add up to a Windsock that should have a long life. We are often asked by new Customers to replace what turn out to be cheaper imports from China and the USA. Through this and our own testing of competitors’ products we are proud to back our Windsocks with a ‘No Quibble’ one-year warranty

Windsocks, can after all be expensive to replace.

Putting aside the actual cost of the Windsock, there can be the cost of an Elevated Work Platform (EWP) and other Working at Heights systems. If you have to repeatably replace your Windsock after a storm or each 6 months, for instance, it can be just plain painful!

They do wear out!

Despite the best Windsocks available, however, eventually, they do wear out!

We provide Windsocks that are required by Law in Aviation and also to demonstrate compliance with appropriate OHS Laws in many industries such as: agriculture, refrigeration, transport, shipping, major industrial operations as well as Oil & Gas.

Your Windsock and all of its assembly just have to be functioning properly. We recommend that all Windsock assemblies are checked regularly to ensure that the Windsock:

  • rotates as it should in a 360-degree circle around the top of the pole;
  • is not damaged has any rips or is fraying;
  • is still highly visible and not too faded; and
  • assembly, comprising: the pole, swivel system, frame or rotor arm pivot are all secure with all fittings and bolts etc secure and in good condition.

Where your Windsock is ‘mission critical’, we recommend that you also have a spare Windsock that can be quickly mounted. We often supply multiple Windsocks in these situations which can reduce cost and also freight charges.
