Rural Fire Service districts operate aircraft from remote airstrips and fire grounds where Windsocks must provide accurate wind indication during fire ground approaches — exposed to radiant heat, embers, smoke, extreme gusts, and sustained UV. Extra Heavy Duty Sunbrella fabric was specified as the only material capable of meeting these demands while remaining bright yellow for aviation visibility.
